2012 NO GNAT MINI
Saturday, February 11, 2012
Host & Hostess: Bill & Tannis Parker
Oak Grove Island, Brunswick, GA

From Bill Parker-No Gnat Mini host:

We are planning the February mini (should be no gnat) for the 11th of February. As usual we will have oysters, shrimp, smoked butts (BBQ), and my political beans (full of pork). I will also have coolers of ice and room for beer that anyone wants to bring. We will appreciate any and all contributions of side dishes and desserts as well as plates, paper towel, and utensils. I will check in the next few days to see what I still have on hand and will put out a list of what is needed for those that want to help with a contribution of these type items. I will also have a jar for monetary contributions and anything over the basic expenses less what I contribute will go to the class treasury. Our classmates have been very generous in the past and I have sent a check to Jan every year after the mini.

What can I bring to the No Gnat Mini? The most important thing to bring to the No Gnat Mini is “YOURSELF”. If we run out of food I am sure we can find some Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches or some Ramen Noodle soup. If given about 15 minutes I can have more shrimp boiled from my freezer supply.
Bill Parker

************

We have already started a Sign-Up List for attendees. Maybe it’s not too early to start a list for volunteers for sides and for set-up and clean-up, parking, and all. Bill and Tannis will let us know about paper products (plates, cups, eating utensils, bowls, napkins, etc.) as soon as possible. The No Gnat Mini gets better and better every year. If everyone who came last year will come again this year, and if those who couldn’t come last year can commit to come this year, we should have the best turnout ever. The sides and the desserts we bring will help fill the plates and tummies of all who come to be a part of this wonderful Class of ‘67 event. It’s one Mini you don’t want to miss!

One of our classmates just asked me to give her some suggestions for what to bring to the No Gnat Mini. Sides and desserts immediately popped into my mind.

Then I got to thinking back on all the email sent and received about how wonderful the Twin Oaks fries are, and thought how great it would be if we could get enough Twin Oaks fries for everyone at the No Gnat to have a hand full on their Chinet platter.

I know....I'm dreaming. That ain't gonna happen, but it was a pleasant thought, eh? Wouldn't they go great with the Boston butt barbecue and boiled shrimp? I am wondering if Twin Oaks would allow us to bring them a couple of good sized baking pans for them to fill with their fries. Wonder what something like that would set us back. Jan, do we have enough money in the Glynn Academy Class of '67 checking account to cover that? Wouldn't this be considered a "worthwhile cause"?

Just thinking,
Billy Brewer ~ Class of '67

- - - - - - - - - - - -

A lovely thought, but they are simply no good unless hot from the grease. They probably wouldn't even make the trip to the Parkers', much less be edible after sitting up for an hour or so.
Danny Barker

- - - - - - - - - - - -

I’ll eat ‘em. Cold or soggy, they are still better than most fries I have sampled in Brunswick.
Jeff "Anonymous" Kilgore

Tell Bill Parker if a C-130 can land in Oak Grove I will send some Afghan style Goat.

P.S. Bill Parker may need two goats dropped by the size of that list.

Billy, please add me to the set up crew. Helping with set up is one of the most enjoyable activities of my life. Doesn't take much! I just talked to Bill Parker and he has given me the OK to arrive early. He knows I'm a a fanatic about this class of 67 event. I even threatened to pitch my tent in his backyard Friday night, but after some counseling he assured me I would be able to endure the irrational exuberance, and wait until set-up time on Saturday. There is nothing like the calming words of a good friend to help a person get through the impatient, excited, edgy and nervous build-up to an exciting event. Kind of reminds me of the night before Christmas when I was a kid. Well, I may not be that hyped up but I am excited.
Class of 67 Love to all,

Twin Oaks Fries Coming to No Gnat Mini!

Obviously, the message sent out about having Twin Oaks fries at the No Gnat Mini made an impression on a classmate of generosity. Without saying too much more, we can expect the pleasure of enhancing our plate of Boston butt barbecue, Bill's politically baked beans, and Cindy's cole slaw, with a pile of crispy Twin Oaks fries, and this is being made possible by...................

Wouldn't you like to know?

Twin Oaks fries at the No Gnat Mini............now if that doesn't cause some of our procrastinating classmates to enter and sign in, please, I don't know what will. Twin Oaks fries.....able to lure classmates from hundreds and hundreds of miles away. Twin Oaks fries.....tastier than a freshly smoked mullet. Twin Oaks fries.....yummy from the front seat or back seat of a '55 Chevy backed in at the Twin Oaks drive-in. What else???? Did anyone ever pull into the Shoney's drive thru to get a Slim Jim, then immediately head out to Twin Oaks for their fries to eat with it?

Thank you to this unknown classmate for your thoughtfulness and generosity.

Danny Barker, I'll eat your share if you don't want them!

Now we're talking!!!
BB '67

Like hell you will. Danny “Jeff is right” Barker

Reserved Parking at the No Gnat Mini? That ain't gonna happen. Well, not unless you are the classmate who is bringing the Twin Oaks fries. This may be a first for the No Gnat Mini. Reserved Parking and Twin Oaks fries are not common to this annual, casual feast and frollic. I can see the T O fries becoming an annual tradition, but reserved parking? If you want a special place to park at the Parker's, you gots to get there early.

We need to remind you about a couple more things. Put a chair in your car. You might need it unless you want to stay afoot all afternoon and night. You oyster eaters need to remember to put your oyster knife in your pocket. Some of us "sissies" like to wear a glove while we're shucking. If you are right handed, bring a left hand glove. If you are left handed, well.....you know.

Are there any other tidbits of information that might be important to remember as we prepare for the No Gnat Mini?

It’s Friday night ... Feb 10th night before the No Gnat mini ... Our leaders are all in route to the County of Glynn ... While our conductor is “On the Road Again”, there is no one manning the engine of the etrain ... Eerie quiet! Not to be the case tomorrow this time at the No Gnat. Parkers will host yet another fabulous oyster feast with all the trimmings for 100 plus of the Class of ’67. Have a good evening to all ... Snoring in Seguin ...

Bill and Tannis Parker did it again.
What a loving, giving couple. Their hard work was appreciated by all who attended the 2012 No Gnat. How joyful it was to reconnect with Class of 67 friends. Some came who had never attended.

On a personal note, I really enjoyed seeing Mike and Kathye Fairman. I will never forget what Mike said to me our first day of school, in the 8th grade at Glynn County Jr High. We were sitting in a classroom when then, Kathye Lewis, walked into the room. Mike, with glazed eyes said, "look at that beautiful girl." Followed by, "I'm going to marry her one day." Well, knowing that would never happen, I told him he was crazy and that she would never even look at him. I called that correctly, didn't I? SURE!

These No Gnats get better each year. Although we will always have memories of our times and friendships in high school, our relationships now stand on their on, beyond those early years. I know we will continue to grow closer as we travel this road together, through emails, personal correspondence and class of 67 events. The No Gnat was again, a fun filled time with fine food and great friends.

Thanks again to Bill and Tannis.
John Boney

Hi Everyone!
Hope ya’ll really enjoy this evening's party. We wish we were there too. We’ll also be celebrating. Johnny came home last night. He was really tired and spent most of the evening sleeping on the couch. Went to bed at 10 pm and it’s now noon Saturday and he’s still enjoying his bed. Many grateful thanks are sent your way for all the prayers and candles. I wish I was there to give ya’ll a hug. Enjoy the food and friendship.

To John Boney we stand and say "AMEN"!
This was in fact another great event and we too say thank you to Bill & Tannis. Unless a gnat weighed 200 lbs he did not stand a chance at the NGM. It was a great event albeit a little breezy and cool. I did get to do a little more in depth on the knee club and now look forward to the 21st. We are really looking forward to the big event in October.

Bill and Tannis,
I just wanted to thank you for all the hard work that went into hosting the NGM. You never fail to make everyone feel warm and welcome in your beautiful home. George and I had a wonderful time. I agree with John, you two are the best!!

Thank You! Bill & Tannis,
I wanted to say that I really enjoyed myself. It was very nice to see and talk to old friends. Everyone was a delight to see again I will be signing up for the next coming event. It was wonderful to touch base with the old friends.

There's not much that I can add to what has already been said about this year's "No Gnat Mini". I think I have missed only one in all the years Tannis and Bill Parker have been hosting this event, and there hasn't been a bad one yet. What made this year's No Gnat so special is what makes every No Gnat special. It is thrilling to watch the classmates, spouses and friends arrive. It's challenging to attempt to greet and speak to everyone, but it's fun making the attempt. The food was extra delicious this year. The oysters were the best ever, the shrimp were fantastic, and the barbecue was just right.

One of the highlights of my evening was escorting Jeff Kilgore to the food table with three huge boxes filled with big white bags, fighting off classmates who had gotten a whiff of the aroma that was unmistably Twin Oaks fries. Jeff "Anonymous" Kilgore was, for the first time, early on arrival with 100 individual bags, each with a very generous serving of those famous fried and battered potato sticks. I couldn't wait for oysters and shrimp, I had to eat my bag full NOW! and I did, and it curbed my appetite for the rest of the night. I did, however, manage to slide down a dozen or so oysters and a bowl of shrimp. After taking a break around the fire pit, I enjoyed a bowl of barbecue. I'm going to have to stop here, because I can't remember all the other stuff I ate during the course of the night. Thanks to Bill and Tannis, Jeff, and all who brought something to eat and drink.

I'm making a big deal about the food, because it's one of my favorite pasttimes, but the classmates, spouses and friends were what really made the night for me. It was so good to see everybody. Quite a few didn't come for some reason, and they were missed. The fire pits were popular places in the backyard as we huddled close to stay warm. With the house and the moss in the trees cutting the breeze significantly, it wasn't so bad. No gnats, and that was the goal.

We are all so very fortunate to be a part of this group, the Class of '67. Let's make the most of it by trying hard to attend as many special events, mini's, and reunions as we possible can. If you come to one you'll want to come to them all. In the meantime our E-Train ride continues on down the tracks. This is YOUR E-Train. Put some sound to your thoughts and let us hear from you.

45th Reunion Glynn Academy Class of '67

Class of '67

IMPORTANT NOTICE!

45th Reunion Glynn Academy
Class of 1967

October 5-6-7, 2012

The '67 Reunion Committee Decision:
November 16, 2010

At tonight's meeting we decided to go ahead with plans to have the 45th Reunion of the Class of '67 the weekend of October 5th and 6th of 2012. This gives everyone at least 22 months to plan on attending. Since it is also Columbus Day weekend many of our classmates may want to stay an extra day to have longer to visit.

The place will be the Oceanside Inn and Suites (the old Wanderer) there is a large room for the meal and dance on Saturday evening. On Friday, weather permitting, we will have a cocktail reception in an open air pavilion. We don't have Saturday noon time planned as of this time. We need to do some more checking and cost analysis on where to have the picnic type get-together.

The web site is: oceansideinnandsuites.com

I'll have a contact name tomorrow for anyone wishing to start booking rooms. The rates quoted to us when we met with the Director of Sales ranged from $68.00 per night to $131.00 per night.

The cost for the weekends activities will be $125.00 per person, if paid in full by August 15 2012, after that date it will be $150.00 per person. We are unable to charge separately for each night or for one night and the picnic. If someone finds it more convenient to make payments of $25.00 every three months until paid in full that will be fine.

We will be putting out an email soon with all the details to be followed up with snail mail if needed.

Bill Parker

PS: We will have a band for this reunion.

Christmas eve of 2010 this cat showed up at our house. Took several weeks before we could get close to her, but now she is one of the family as long as it is just Tannis and I. She takes off if anyone else is around so we will not see her during the mini. She is known by a number of names: Scardy Cat, Dooree, Underfoot, and Cat. Doesn't respond to any of them. When we took her to the vet the first time he told us that she had already been fixed which we suspected since she had a notch in her ear. I still think one of our kids had a hand in her showing up.

Could ET have already coordinated kitty air drop with Victoria in Victorialand?
Maybe you should keep an eye out for a stray Afghan goat sometime around February 11.
Wish Linda & I could make NGM - but must work February 12.

Cynthia Kay Tedeschi ~ 1967

While we were getting set to meet at Bill and Tannis’ house last Saturday for the No Gnat Mini, one of our missing classmates poked her head out of a hole and saw her shadow!

No, not really. It’s a whole lot better than that, and all the credit goes to Steve Holcomb and our Class of ‘67 website for attracting the attention of ... Cindy Tedeschi Klinowski. Look at her message below. See how she wants to reconnect with some of our “old” friends. (We don’t have any of those, do we?)

I’m adding Cindy to our active email list now so please make her feel welcome as she climbs on board the E-Train and finds her seat. Contact me now for Cindy's email address. I know she will be so happy to hear from YOU!

Send us a recent picture, Cindy. Like the rest of us, we know you haven’t changed a bit.

Hi Billy,
In searching for some email addresses I came across the Glynn Academy website. I would love to reconnect with some of our old friends. I live in Golden, Colorado, we have been here since 1999. We are up in the Rocky Mt. foothills above the city of Denver. Is there some form or how can I get on the mailing list to keep up with everyone’s information?

Hope to hear from you. Thank you.

February 4, 2012

I am now in my new FOB . I cannot give the name. I am about 10 or so clicks from Pakistan at an elevation of 8500'. It took about eleven days to get hear from my old FOB. Weather is a big player from January through mid March. I arrived by Black Hawk at 3:00PM today. It is cold in this place and was snowing when I got here. They received about 6" of snow last night and 15" five days ago. This is quite a shock to the system after being in the desert for 15 months. Highs are 40 during the day and zero and below at night. The higher mountains in this area are 12,000 to 14,000 feet, about the height of the Tetons near Jackson Hole, Wyoming. This is a beautiful area of the World and I never thought I would say that about any part of Afghanistan. The summers here are much milder than in the desert. Highs of about 90-95 in the day and 60 at night. I am with an Army unit and we also have Romanians and Afghan troops. The Romanians are really a friendly group of troops and I hear they are very good cooks. I will let you know how good soon. The Afghans, well they are Afghans and as you have probably heard cannot be trusted. I try to keep my distance. An Army Special Forces group left here about Christmas. They were instrumental in training the Afghans. We are about 40 or 45 miles from the nearest friendly unit, suffice it to say that I am in a very remote area. As soon as I download the pictures I took on the way out here and will email them to everyone.

Hope everyone is well. Sandra, hope you are doing OK with the wrist. I been following your progress on face book.

ET
Glad to hear you are settled near the ski slopes of Afghanistan. It sounds as if you are closer to where we don't want you to be. Along with keeping your head down, how about adding a thick, steel bucket to that big ass head of yours. Stay safe!
KT (Ken Tollison)

************

Billy,
You are the leader of the Class of 67 and I cry foul to Ken's unkind references to my hat size. Can you levy a fine on him or something? If I were a sensitive person his comments would hurt my feelings.
ET

************

Ernie, in reference to the insults aimed at you pertaining to the size of your head, I wish I could help you there, but I am not a surgeon and as a regular citizen with a normal sized head, I have never been in a conversation with anyone who claimed to know if there is such a thing as a “head transplant” for people such as you. Maybe others in our class who have this same condition could offer you some options. The only other advice I can give you is the possibility of some professional counseling to help you learn how to cope with it.

On the other hand, I must admit, in agreements with you, that Ken Tollison’s continuous pounding of this issue would be enough to cause permanent mental damage to anyone who otherwise could have lived a normal life. Some people feel the need to belittle others in order to elevate themselves (in their own minds) over others. Such is the case with our brother, Ken, it seems. Personally, I have never been the target of his relentless efforts to place himself on his ego pedestal, and I hope that I never will be.

It is a responsibility of the greatest magnitude that rest on the shoulders of an Email Operator, and though it seems to you, ET, that I am in a position of authority, I must relinquish the decision to place a levy on a fellow classmate to a more democratic process. I suggest that several in our email reconnection who fully understand the situation and can remove themselves completely from any road blocks caused by personal relationships or personal involvement in this matter be appointed.

I suggest that you as the plaintiff (victim), and Ken T as the defendant (assailant) , come up with a panel of those in our class who have displayed the ability to be fair and conclusive in their judgments. I further suggest that each of you present the names of three classmates who have been following this fester on the posterior of our usual smooth E-Train ride who will be quick in their considerations and decisions. Three plus three is six, an even number, so we will need a tie breaker, if necessary. I suggest that we not place this responsibility on any one classmate, but if in the end of this case we have three in favor of the plaintiff and three in favor of the defendant that both plaintiff and defendant have imposed on them a levy, as previously suggested, in the amount of $500.00 which will be paid prior to August 15 to Jan Gardner Sala, our class treasurer, to be earmarked for the payment of 45th Class Reunion registration fees for two couples, namely Steve and Linda Holcomb, our web site creator and maintainer, and yours truly and wife, Guilford, for having to put up with such childish and unnecessary matters.

In my honest opinion and unfailing judgment, as displayed meritoriously over the past six plus years as your Class of ‘67 email operator, this is the best course to take, and I am sure I can get an “Amen” not only from my cohort, Steve Holcomb, but from a majority of the reconnected classmates.

Okay, the “ball is in your court”, so please advance to the next stage by appointing three classmates, understanding that no one classmate can be selected twice. Otherwise, you can settle this case immediately by writing a check to the Class of ‘67 in the amount of $250 (each), and earmark it for the aforementioned Class of ‘67 couples.

Your Class of ‘67 Servant,
Billy Brewer ~ Email Operator (Hoping for a tie)

Sir,
I appoint Gil, Billy and Linda Sue to prosecute Mr Tollison for his insults.
With your permission I would like to add a fourth. I select Bane.
Tollison, you are in the fight of your life.
ET

- - - - - - - - - -

Ernie, since I may be in a position to gain from this I respectfully decline your appointment of me. I have already looked ahead at your next email and I think you have a good third person. Sorry you cannot have four. BB

P.S. Woops! I guess you were talking about Billy Watson. Two of the these you have chosen could be considered “eye witnesses”. The third is on a quieter list that may not be aware of all that has been going on, and it may be necessary for you to bring him up to speed with the rest of us. Would you like to “rethink your thoughts”?

Linda Sue, we are talking about physical size of the cranium, not what opinion I may or may not have of myself. Any more cracks like that and I may rethink the selections I made on my prosecution team. ET

So sorry- I think I was a little crazy when I sent that question. I do not drink or take blue pills. I was just joking around. Sorry. I will be a serious defender of your large cranium.
Linda Sue Seymour Carr

Linda the banter back and forth is what makes the process fun. We will bring the weight of the law down on Mr. Tollison's "Friar Tuck" looking head.

I am doing the needed research at this moment. A lot of pride is at stake- so I will plan to plead your case in the best way possible. I will need your head measurements so that I can compare them to Einstein's, General Patton's and other noteworthy people for comparisons.

Linda,
My hat and cap size is a 7 7/8. Sometimes a 7 3/4 will work.

Wow... I just found out that King Tut wore the same size hat as you do.
King Tuten-kamun ---- you may be a famous relative of his. I will continue my research.

Greetings,
'Found this photo of boy-King Tut's mask and compared it with our school photo of Ernie Tuten.
Linda Sue might be on to something. Does anyone else see a resemblance to Ernie and King Tuten-khamen?

Good job again, Steve! You are too much. Yes, the family resemblance really shows. Now Ernie probably wants to know what happened to all his gold.

Spiel - I had to scroll all the way down to the bottom of all our case work to find your pictures. I do see that they could be related. Excellent detective work on your part. I have used ET's input that he thinks he may be of German decent. Albert Einstein had a very large cranium and he was from Germany. He might also be in ET's family tree. Ernie Eins- Tuten could have been shortened to Ernie Tuten through time. Maybe some old family photos of the Eins-Tuten family we give us a clue. Research will continue until we can plead his case.

I think you need to look further to the North to find my ancestors. The backwoods of Germany and Austria are my origin. My uncle was into genealogy and he said that the name Tuten was spelled Teuton when in England in the early 1700's. Teuton comes from Teutonic as in tribesmen. Better known as barbarians. My ancestors became paid warriors and went to England in 1066 with the Normans and conquered England. We came to the colonies in 1730 as indentured servants, meaning for boat fare from England to America paid by a land owner in the colonies. We were required to work from 2 to 4 years for the land owner to pay off the debt of our transportation. The above is a long-winded way of saying, I ain't no Egyptian.

L. Gerald James Today

Gerald doesn't have a home computer, and he had to get a friend to take this picture with a cell phone. Thanks to Nancy Fowler Rivers for letting me text the picture to her, and then emailing it back to me.

If we don't have a recent picture of YOU, would you do what you can to get one to us? If you don't have a digital camera, then use your cell phone if it can take pictures. Send it to us. I am sure that Steve would like to fill in a few blanks in the photo section.

See you soon!

Lynette....

Enjoyed your note ... thanks for taking time to share it with me. Speaking of horses ... La Jolla Sioux, the mare we’ve been watching, our first expecting mare of this season, delivered a nice strong bay colt this evening at around 8PM. We’ve been on foal watch with her since about day 330. She passed 335, her average gestation period for fillies 10 or so days ago ... delivering tonight ... because of her longer gestation period, we knew it would be a colt. We watch the first mare of the year with great anticipation and excitement .... and are not as intense with those that follow as we settle in. Sioux is an easy keeper and a pro at it ... She’s consistent and easy to predict. Sally called me this afternoon at work and said the mare was waxing ... mild crystals forming up on her. I got home about 6 and she was hot, pacing and in a worked up mood. This mare rarely waxes ... but this year she did ... noticed just today, so we knew she was close ... thinking tonight would be the night. Sally and I helped this delivery a tad as it was an easy delivery. Soiux did all the work. Just thought I would let you know. I have some video, but not sure how to send it. I watched it back and it’s pretty fragmented ... I know camera work is not in my future ... But I’ll try to get you something to see.

I agree with you about Nancy Fowler’s singing ability ... She was/is really special. Unfortunately, we wore her voice out. I don’t know how I got involved with a band. Nancy and I were sophomores and everyone else was seniors: Richard Robinson was our lead/rhythm guitar, George Roberts on Drums, Jimmy Warren on Bass ... Jimmy Ellis on Sax and Reece Duesenberry on Trombone. We called ourselves something different every month. Constellations, Friday and The Weekends ... The Seven Seas ... just couldn’t find a name to stick .... I can’t remember how it got started, but I was the weak link. I finally announced I wanted to focus on sports and the band was growing into a big time commitment ... I finally made the commitment to bow out and focus on sports the summer of ’66, I think.

The band was better off for it ... and it didn’t hurt me either ... football provided me a way to pay for my education at the Citadel ... which turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It didn’t hurt being surrounded by a group of great players at Glynn Academy. WE really jelled our senior year. Meanwhile, Nancy stayed on with Richard Jimmy and George, I think ... but it was difficult as they shifted to Atlanta, playing while at in college ... About that time, Nancy started singing with the Swinging Medallions (may have been the Pieces of Eight...remnants of the swinging Medallions-Double Shot of My Baby’s Love) out of South Carolina ... I’m not really sure how long, etc. I think they really wanted her to continue, but it ended ... not sure how or why. Playing in a band is not as easy at it may appear. We should get Nancy to share her story of her bands/singing career ... I would really like to hear from her on that.

Interestingly, my brother Bobby started playing in a band at that time and still plays ... I think his band is OSKAR (Old South Kick Ass Rock) Rockhammer .... Of course, Sally’s brother, Skipper is a talented guitar player and the whole Hagey family can sing like birds. I still have a baby grand and can play pieces of stuff from years ago for a while ... don’t do any practicing and I only play for me ... Dixon asked me to play at the last reunion ... but I’m not polished and made the right decision to let others handle it ... Everyone did a great job. Maybe on our 50th, I‘ll accompany Nancy with some of our old numbers ... You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me, by Dusty Springfield ... my personal favorite for Nancy ... I’m willing if she is ...

Need to hit the rack ... I’ve been up literally every night checking Sioux at 12 and again at 3 for the last 10-12 days ... Tonight I sleep and plan to get there 10 seconds after I hit the send key ..... can’t depend on my cat, like Linda Sue!

Enjoy talking. Will send picks or movie bits of the delivery. Adios. Billy Watson

PS: working in Chris LeDoux’s Western Skies ... maybe I should learn a couple of those songs for the reunion, eh? BW

Well, I just got home from enjoying a Wild Game Dinner for the men and boys of the church. We ate Bambi, the Little Pig who built his home out of straw, and the junior varsity basketball team of the Charter Fish School (fish school, get it?). We also had some Cole slaw, and some non-Twin Oaks fries. Bob White and some other members of the Quail family were there. Green beans, and some kind of black bean and rice (very colorful) concoction that was very tasty. I had vanilla ice cream with my piece of yellow cake with chocolate icing. No possum on the half-shell (armadillo) this time. Bummer. I will probably wake up in the middle of the night with all of these creatures trying to make a break back to nature. I hope I can sleep and just let nature take its course in the morning. Okay, enough said about the Wild Game Dinner.

I missed “American Idol” for the second night in a row, but that won’t cause me to lose any sleep. What’s going on with everybody else?

I think it is Sally’s night to sit up with the horse mom to be. Billy, I’m rattling your cage. Are you awake?

or the really great stuff, Wild Turkey?

I’m with our Webservant ... what were you drinking/smoking last night? Sounds like my daughter-in-law describing the food she’s trying to get my granddaughter to eat ... I don’t feel so bad ... there are two of us now ... running loose with out a halter on the etrain ... Heee!!!. Catch us if you can! BW

My husband, "Harry", is not an adventuresome eater. He says they have wild game dinner's when they want to clean out their freezers. He sticks mostly to the biscuits and gravy.

Our Wild Game Dinner plans are determined by the amount of fog we have in the area.
Lots of “road kill” when the wild game can’t see you coming.
Not really, BB ‘67

All is well, thanks for asking ... the last week has been focused on getting this baby on the ground. The mare has been a good mare and thrown nice babies that have done something at the track ... this should be a nice baby ... She successfully took on foal heat this time last year ... she carried to term and did everything right last night. It’s pure mother nature luck that the foals come presented properly ... one front hoof, then the other followed by the nose at the knee ... if that what’s coming ... all should be OK ...I t’s when it starts out another way that you have problems and a large number of them do not end with a good result .... That’s why we are there ... We can push the baby back, sometimes, turn the baby and a few other things, but generally, if there’s a problem we call a vet or haul them to the nearest vet hospital 1 hour away ... and the latter is the safest with the best result ... Get them to where they can hoist the mare up by he hind legs so the baby can fall back into the womb ... then hope to restart the process successfully ... or c-section is mostly done if you don’t immediately succeed with the retry ..... either way, it’s a harrowing experience and not fun. If we miss the delivery by not being there and there’s a major problem, it’s likely we loose the foal and the mare.

So, having been up so much has given me time to write and catch up ... literally all hours of the night and day. Fatigue leads to loose writing and I jump from topic to topic, regardless of what I write, it’s all in jest .... in a weird way.

I have been up so much lately, I’m feeling the need to hit the rack early ... I wrote past midnight last night, recounting the birth night ... tonight, all is well, baby up and nursing and Mom is in charge .... Time to let them bond and rest ... Another mare is 20 days out ... so it starts over in a week or so ... I’ll hang for a while, so keep them coming.

Getting pumped for the Super Bowl ... don’ really care who wins ... Would like to see the Giants, although I like Brady and the Pats because they are a team that makes the fewest mistakes and usually wins ... you have to respect that .... The Pats are the likely winner Sunday. But, it’s why they play the game. The team that executes and has the ability to adjust the quickest to game plan changes is usually the winner, absent a turnover deficit ... truly like playing chess...BW

Note: Final Score Super Bowl XLVI: NY Giants - 21 : NE Patriots - 17
